Tamraght sits on the hillside just south of Taghazout, fifteen kilometres from Agadir, and it's quietly become the retreat capital of this coast. The waves are the same ones the Taghazout camps drive to — Devil's Rock and Banana Point are practically in the village — but the mood is different: rooftop yoga at sunrise, tagines on shared tables, early nights. If the idea of a surf camp appeals but a party hostel doesn't, Tamraght is probably your village.

Why the surf-and-yoga crowd chose Tamraght

Tamraght's camps tend to be run by small teams who live in the village, and several of the best combine surf coaching with a proper yoga programme — vinyasa before breakfast, yin after the afternoon session. The rhythm works: surf in the morning when the wind is light, stretch out in the evening, sleep well, repeat. Full board is the norm, and the food is a genuine highlight — most camps cook Moroccan staples with a healthy tilt.

Drop-in yoga classes also exist if you're staying elsewhere in the area, usually €10 – €15 a class. If you're travelling with a partner who surfs less than you, this village is the easy compromise.

The breaks around Tamraght

Devil's Rock is the village wave — a forgiving right and left over sand and rock that suits improvers, and the spot where many Tamraght camps run their lessons. Banana Point, a few minutes north, is a long, mellow right that's perfect for longboarders and progressing beginners. When the swell picks up in winter, the vans run ten minutes north to Anchor Point and the Taghazout points. You'll never be short of options whatever the forecast does.

Booking advice from someone on the ground

Two things matter more than the photos on a camp's website: group size per instructor (ask — six to one is the most you want) and whether the price really includes airport transfers and board hire. The good Tamraght camps include both. Tell me your dates, your level and whether yoga matters to you, and I'll send you the two or three camps I'd book myself, with current prices and honest notes on each.

FAQ

Seven nights all-inclusive runs from around €259 – €450 for budget camps, €490 – €650 for a private room at a mid-range camp, and €650 – €1,000+ for surf-and-yoga retreats. I confirm exact prices for your dates on WhatsApp.

Same waves, different pace. Tamraght is quieter, a touch cheaper and home to most yoga retreats; Taghazout has more cafés and nightlife. They're five minutes apart and camps in both drive to the same breaks.

Most mid-range and premium camps include Agadir airport pick-up and drop-off in the weekly price. Budget camps sometimes charge extra — I always check this for you before you book.

Absolutely. Devil's Rock and the sandy beaches nearby are classic learning spots, and camps run dedicated beginner groups with all kit included. Summer is the gentlest season to learn.
